The Curtain Falls!

And so, the 2014 Reading Road Trip came to a close today in a packed conference room at the Iowa City Public Library.

This summer, we taught kids across the state to turn their televisions off, to go outside and play, to use their imaginations, and to read good books!

Of course, we also taught them to eat healthy foods!

My favorite part of the summer? There were robots waiting around every corner!

That’s All, Folks!

My hair almost popped out of my head this morning when I realized today was the final day of the 2013 Reading Road Trip!

Why am I always the only one without a hat when hair starts popping out? You would think my friends at the Iowa City Public Library would hook me up with something to protect my fuzzy noggin.

Being it was the last day of my tour, things got a little bit crazy!

But, we still made sure all [...]

Imagine, Dream, Read, Fly!

Sunday afternoons are very popular times for sharing stories at the Iowa City Public Library!

I think all of the families in the city take time to STOP and read as often as they can!

And the librarians in Iowa City? Well, let’s just say they don’t need to be encouraged to have fun.

What a coincidence! Imagining, dreaming, reading, and flying are four of my favorite things!

There’s a Dinosaur in the Basement!

A special Sunday afternoon story time today started with brunch at the Iowa City Public Library.

They’ve made some impressive additions since last time I was there. The fort made of real books was awesome!

I’d never seen the fountain before. The perfect fun for a warm summer day.

While receiving a tour of downtown I wandered into Prairie Lights book store. They have a DINOSAUR in the basement!

Castles and Costumes!

This week I had the honor of sharing story time with the Lemme Leopards!

I also read some stories to the spooks at South Hamilton Elementary.

No leopards or spooks at the Eldora Public Library though.

Their library is a huge castle!

I met two gallant knights with purple shields.

And I even met the king and queen of the library!

At the Lisbon Public Library they celebrate Halloween all year round!

The librarians are always wearing costumes.

And what an honor, the Lisbon football players asked me to [...]
